Human meets AI: Manuel's AI feature becomes a scandal hit – and is subsequently banned

Split-stage concert with a live singer in warm light and a blue holographic AI pianist, divided by a lightning bolt.

Imagine your favorite rapper featuring an artist who doesn't even exist. That is exactly what just happened in the German rap scene – and it shows you how close AI music and genuine emotion have become. One hit, 193,000 streams, an Instagram hype – and then: silence. Censorship. A takedown. Welcome to the wildest AI music drama of the year.

The track that changed everything

It starts with a virtual artist named Nimi: a digital face at the piano, sometimes headlining on stage, other times in a grand concert hall – created entirely by AI. According to Musikexpress, the song 'Wieso sagt ChatGPT?' went viral on TikTok featuring Nimi, and suddenly, an AI experiment turned into a genuine internet phenomenon.

Then came the moment that made things really interesting: as reported by Musikexpress, Manuellsen heard the song in one of his streams and decided to contribute a feature. His own admission afterwards was telling – according to the magazine, it’s not exactly easy to compete against a 'perfect' AI voice. A statement that shows how deep the respect – or perhaps the concern – runs among real musicians these days.

The numbers speak for themselves: according to Musikexpress, Nimi gained over 14,000 followers on Instagram; the song was released on June 12, 2026, and became a true success, now with over 193,000 streams on Spotify.

And then: the plug is pulled

As quickly as the hype arrived, the end was just as abrupt. Musikexpress reports that as of June 15, 2026, the song is no longer available on Spotify, and Nimi's Instagram profile has been blocked. The official reasons remain in the dark – according to the magazine, a withdrawal by the rights holder, copyright or licensing issues, a technical glitch by the platform, or regional blocks are all plausible theories. All that’s clear is: no one is currently saying exactly why.

It is also interesting that this incident occurs during a period where heated legal debates regarding AI music platforms like Suno are taking place – whether there is a direct connection, however, remains pure speculation.

The counter-example: GRiNGO and KiKi stay online

At almost the same time, a second feature experiment blew up. Rapper GRiNGO also brought in AI support – with the virtual artist 'KiKi'. According to Musikexpress, the track 'Ma Chérie', which was also released on June 12, now has over 56,000 streams on Spotify, while KiKi remained significantly more low-profile on Instagram with just 147 followers.

The deciding difference: as the magazine reports, this track is still available on Spotify, and the Instagram profile was not blocked. Whether this is due to the smaller reach or because everything was legally watertight remains the secret of those involved for now.

What this means for you as a listener

This story is more than just rap drama. It shows you live and in real-time how the music world is being renegotiated: where does the experiment end, and where does the legal minefield begin? One thing is certain: AI features are no longer a niche, but are hitting six-figure streaming numbers and sparking real viral waves. At the same time, you can see that the industry lacks clear rules – every case is effectively becoming a legal precedent in real-time. For us at AI.OnAir, this means that these very moments—where human and AI make music together—are the most exciting stories of our time. Stay tuned, because this chapter is definitely not over yet.

The official reasons for the blocking of the song on Spotify and the Instagram profile remain unclear. Experts suspect copyright issues, licensing disputes, or technical errors as potential causes for the sudden shutdown.
