Hagen, July 11, 2026 – Just four weeks after its official launch, AI.OnAir is reporting an impressive initial track record – and taking action to keep up with the overwhelming demand. To accommodate steadily rising listener numbers and the high volume of music uploads via the website, the station is migrating to a high-performance, cloud-based server infrastructure starting today.
Growth outpaces initial capacity: Hundreds of stream starts daily
When AI.OnAir launched on June 13, the team hoped for steady growth. However, reality exceeded all expectations: within the first few weeks, the web radio station recorded hundreds of stream starts every day. With peaks of nearly 80 concurrent listeners and a literal flood of music submissions from independent artists via the online song form, the original server capacities reached their performance limits.
"We didn't expect such rapid growth right from the launch" explains founder Dennis Vorberg. "Our goal is to stream music in crystal-clear 320 kbps studio quality around the clock. When musicians simultaneously upload new, high-resolution audio files through our song form, it requires enormous bandwidth and computing power. This move was essential to ensure we continue to provide our listeners with a completely seamless streaming experience."
Auto-scaling for the future
The new infrastructure utilizes state-of-the-art, dynamic cloud resources. This means that if listener numbers rise during peak hours or sudden spikes occur due to viral tracks, additional server instances are automatically triggered (auto-scaling). At the same time, the bandwidth for the global audio stream has been massively increased.
Simon Vogler, co-founder of AI.OnAir, is excited about this milestone:"We’ve set the technical foundation. The new platform runs extremely stably, shortens our web player's load times, and provides the perfect base for upcoming expansions – such as our own app and growing integration into global smart home systems. A huge thank you to our community for their patience during the overnight migration!"

The station experienced unexpectedly rapid growth with hundreds of daily stream starts. To maintain stable 320 kbps studio quality and handle high bandwidth for file uploads, a cloud-based solution with auto-scaling became necessary.
Thanks to the new cloud technology, additional server instances are activated automatically during high listener counts or viral traffic spikes. This ensures an uninterrupted and stable streaming experience for all listeners, even during periods of heavy demand.
